The Vieques Conservation Trust was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1985 under the laws of Puerto Rico. It is a 501(c)(3) federally tax exempt corporation with the EIN 66-0429598. VCHT also holds an Article 1101.01 exemption from the Puerto Rican government.
Is to foster, protect and conserve the environmental, archaeological and cultural resources of Vieques.
One of the primary goals are to preserve and study the bioluminescent bays found on the island. We support a broad array of educational programs for the community, with a special focus on children through lectures, educational exhibits, seminars, creative and fun environmental education programs, publications, computer resources and a unique scholarship program for Viequense students.
Currently the VCHT has approximately 500 members. These include organizations and individuals from Vieques, Mainland Puerto Rico, United States and other countries. We invite you to become a member so you too can be part of this conservation effort.
Every year over 10,000 persons visit our facilities: local residents, visitors from the Main Island, seasonal residents, and tourists from all over the world.
Your generosity helps support environmental education programs created for Viequense children and youth on subjects such as the sustainability of the Island, its ecological diversity and environmentally-friendly ways to earn a living.
